Evan Willis was born to Dr. Roy and Ilmajean Willis in Harrisburg, PA. He is the youngest of
three boys. At the age of three his grandfather told his father that the young Evan Willis would be a
pastor when he came of age.

Evan is a product of Christian education and a proud graduate of Pine Forge Academy class of
2006 where God enlisted him to the gospel ministry at the age of 16. He is an Alumnus of Oakwood
University class of 2011. At Oakwood University Evan served as class Chaplain, United Student
Movement Religious Vice President, and was awarded the 2011 Spiritual Leadership Award for his
dedicated service as the Religious VP. It was at Oakwood that he met his wife the lovely former Aleya
Word, and they have four sons together Jeremiah, James, John, and Joshua . He has pastored 7 churches
in the South Atlantic Conference. In 2015 Evan completed his Master’s of Divinity degree from the
Adventist Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, Michigan, while in the seminary he served as a
student pastor of the Shiloh Seventh-Day Adventist church in Chicago, IL. He is now pastoring the
Northeast Seventh-day Adventist church in Charlotte, NC & Smyrne French SDA Church.

While pastoring he is also furthering his education at the University of

North Carolina at Charlotte in 2022 he will complete his Ph.D in
Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Urban Education. While furthering his education the
Lord has blessed him to still be able to experience academic and spiritual success. He has served as a
Doctoral Fellow for the Urban Education Collaborative and currently serves as a senator for the Urban
Educators for Change.
Wherever, he has served it has been evident that the Spirit of God has been present with the
churches that are under his tender watch and care. It is often said of him that in moments of chaos God
has used him to instill comfort and lead his churches out of chaotic storms.
Evan loves playing basketball, researching genealogy, reading, and is an avid sports fan. His
passion for ministry is to see Men and Women, Young and Old actively involved in God’s ministry. The
scripture that he hopes that his ministry will personify is John 3:30, “He must increase, but I must
decrease.
